Privacy notice

The enquiry form on this site is operated by Artúr Izsák, a licensed tour guide working in Budapest, Hungary. You can reach me on +36 30 990 9708, or through the form itself.

There is no company behind this site and no marketing department: the person who reads your message is the person who will guide you.

Three separate things happen. You start the first one; the other two are how any website works.

1. Answering your enquiry and planning a tour. What: your name, email address, phone number (if you give one), your travel dates and party size (if you give them), the option you pick from the list, and what you write in the message. Why we may: to take steps at your request before agreeing a tour (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)), or, if you are only asking a question, because answering it is a legitimate interest of both of us (Article 6(1)(f)). How long: until the enquiry or the tour is finished, and at most one year after that.

2. Keeping the form usable. What: an identifier derived from your IP address with a secret key — the address itself is never stored. It is kept for one hour, so the form can count how many messages came from the same machine. If a submission is rejected (sent too fast, hourly limit reached), the reason and that same identifier go into the server error log; the raw address does not go there either. Why we may: protecting the form and the mailbox from mass spam is a legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)). How long: log entries for at most 90 days, then the hosting provider rotates them away.

3. Serving the page. What: for any web page to appear, the serving machines technically receive your IP address and what your browser sends (browser type, the page requested). This is recorded in the hosting provider’s web server log, not by me. Why we may: serving the site securely is a legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)). How long: according to the provider’s own log policy, typically days or weeks; I have no individual access to those logs.

Your name, your email address, the option from the list and the message are required — without an email address there is no way to answer you. The phone number, your dates and your party size are optional; they only help me answer with something concrete straight away.

If you would rather not use the form at all, call me on +36 30 990 9708. Using the form is never the only way to reach me.

Your message arrives as an email, so it technically passes through the company hosting this site and its mail service (Perfect Web Solutions), and it is stored in my mailbox, which is provided by Google Ireland Ltd. Both act as processors, on my instructions.

My mailbox provider may store messages outside the European Union, including in the United States; Google is permitted to do so under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, recognised by a European Commission adequacy decision.

Beyond that your details are not shared, not sold, and not used for any mailing list. If a public authority makes a lawful request, I have to comply with it.

This site sets no cookies and measures no visitors: there is no analytics, no advertising pixel, no social media tracker. That is also why you are not asked to agree to anything on arrival — there is nothing to agree to.

There are no photographs, no embedded maps and no external fonts either. The typefaces are served from this site’s own server, so your visit is not reported to anyone else.

You can ask for a copy of the data held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, ask for the processing to be restricted, and object to processing based on legitimate interest — that is, the spam protection and the server logs described above.

For the details you send while arranging a tour you can also ask for a machine-readable copy, or ask me to pass them to someone else (data portability, GDPR Article 20).

Write or call using the details above; I answer within 30 days, free of charge.

If you believe your rights have been breached, you can complain to the Hungarian supervisory authority (NAIH, Falk Miksa utca 9–11, 1055 Budapest, www.naih.hu), to the authority in your own country of residence, or go to court.

If how the site works changes, this notice is updated. The date it took effect is always shown at the top.
