9. Two-day tour from Budapest to Vienna via Lake Balaton
Itinerary for the 1st day:
- Short walk in the oldest town built on the lakeside, Balatonfüred
- Visit to the enchanting Peninsula of Tihany and stay for lunch tasting pike-perch and Balaton wines
- Visit to the Festetics Mansion, the most beautiful Hungarian palace
- Stay overnight in one of the hotels on the lakeside
- evening options : night bathing, wine tasting, concerts or dancing in charming villages surrounded by vineyards
Itinerary for the 2nd day:
- In the morning we can choose some physical activities – like bathing in Lake Balaton or in the warm watered lake Héviz – or exploring some other treasures of the countryside by visiting a castle or a stately home of the Nádasdy barons or of the Esterházy princes
- Scenic drive from Lake Balaton to the best preserved medieval town of Hungary, Sopron
- Lunch in Sopron followed by a guided walking tour that covers an architectural heritage from the Roman Age to the Good Olden Days of the Habsburg Empire
- Free time in town and say goodbye to Hungary
- Border-crossing to Austria and transfer to Vienna
Castles and mansions, as always, have only stairs but otherwise it is a well balanced, relaxing tour that makes no problems for people in wheelchair.
